Age Concern Herefordshire & Worcestershire look for Intergenerational Volunteers

Tales from a Credit Crunch Overview

An intergenerational project aiming to give a cinematic forum for Worcestershire’s older and younger people discussing the impact of economic downturn within and to their community.

The older people will discuss previous recessions endured from 1930’s onwards, the younger ones, their experience of this credit crunch. Participants need to be formed from both urban and rural communities and reflect the diversity of Worcestershire’s demographic. Participants will be filmed in a group or one-to-one setting by the film team.

We are looking to form a film team consisting of mentors and learners, mentors who can share and teach all aspects of film making skills, learners who want to gain new skills. The film group will be sent on supervised visits into established groups to film the interviewee’s stories.

Throughout the project we are hoping to break down perceived barriers between the two age groups, share knowledge and skills and help build community cohesion.

The final DVD format will be a combination of interviews, photos with narration and mixed media pieces submitted from schools and community groups constituting a finished product of approximately 90 minutes. It will act as an intergenerational response to economic downturn from multiple communities and will be circulated to schools and older people’s groups across Worcestershire.

In summer 2011 it will be shown at the Worcester Festival along with a display of work from the mentioned groups representing their understanding of the Credit Crunch.

If you or someone you know has been affected by the Credit Crunch we would like to hear your views and opinions. We are also looking for people who remember how recessions and hard economic times have impacted Worcestershire in the past.
