Children and Young People’s Plan Annual Conference and Consultation Event 30 January 2008
The Children and Young People’s Plan Annual Conference and Consultation Event, 30 January 2008, is being put together by the
Worcestershire Children & Young People’s Strategic Partnership. The venue is the Hallmark Suite at Worcester Rugby Club between 9.30am till 12.30am.
Richard Hubbard the Director of Children’s Services wrote, in relation to the Conference:
Worcestershire County Council has a duty under the Children’s Act 2004 to make arrangements to secure co-operation among partners to improve the well being of children and young people. The Children and Young People’s Plan is produced jointly by the local authority and its partners. The purpose of the plan is to set agreed priorities and co-ordinate activity across partners to improve outcomes for children and young people.
We are celebrating the first year of this plan, which has already undergone a six-month review and is now open for consultation for a refreshed plan to be launched in May 2008.
Some of the preparatory work in Worcestershire has already been completed through existing partnership arrangements:
• We have just completed a joint strategic assessment of need for children, young people and families In Worcestershire, which will inform the new Children and Young People’s Plan.
• We have also developed with the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) 9 draft priorities for Children’s Services
We are now seeking to consult with a wide range of partners, children, young people, their families and the community. Consultations will take place between January and March 2008 through a series of events, meetings and presentations.
