Choice and Control Theme for WAVOCC AGM

The WAVOCC Annual General Meeting was held on Friday, 11th July 2008 at the Bradbury Centre, Worcestershire Association for the Blind.

Adam’s talk was then followed by Peter Arch, Head of the Joint Commissioning Unit who discussed ‘The Role of the Joint Commissioning Unit’.

Both speakers then participated in a short question and answer session from the floor before Jim Smith, WAVOCC Development Officer discussed the rising number of WAVOCC members at 30% during 2009, and also discussed the development of WAVOCC 2009-2010. Jim gave a brief overview of current work including consultation with the PCT over their 5 year strategy.

There was then the opportunity for further questions in the Choice and Control Panel, comprising of Peter Arch and Adam Russell. We would like to thank both panel members who took full responsibility for question and answers.

After lunch an informative workshop ‘Next Steps for Preventative Services’ was led by Kay Parry. A small group of interested attendees met to explore the future and current Preventive Services agenda for older people.

This involved a discussion on the priorities for older people in respect to health, wellbeing, safety and inclusion. This was followed by discussion around sustainability of services.
