Invitation to Participate - Brief Intervention Referral Payment Scheme
The aim of the scheme is to increase the number of smokers in Worcestershire who quit as part of the Public Health Department’s contribution to meeting the LAA (Local Area Agreement) target for smoking cessation.
The Public Health Team will offer to train staff in your organisation to provide a ‘brief intervention’ to your clients who smoke, which comprises:
- advising smokers to stop smoking
- assessing motivation to quit
- signposting to the NHS Worcestershire Stop Smoking Services 0800 9175602 phone line so the client can choose from a range of local stop smoking service providers (e.g. GPs, pharmacies, Specialist Stop Smoking Service)
For every one of your clients who subsequently sets a quit date we will pay £5, and an additional £50 for every 50 clients who set a quit date.
For full details of the scheme please see the service model and contract attached. If you would like to participate in the scheme please complete the contract and send two signed copies to me. I will then return one copy, signed by me, to you. Our Brief Intervention trainer is Vicky Moulston and on receipt of your contract I will ask Vicki to contact you straight away to book up your training; sessions last for two hours, can be delivered on site, and we recommend you send two staff members where possible.
If you would like more information please give Julia D. North a call on 01905 733825.
