Local Surgery offers funding opportunity and community engagement opportunity

Local charities and voluntary groups are being invited to run a new coffee shop at the Prospect View Medical Centre in Malvern in return for a share of the takings.

The coffee shop will be in the main reception area at the medical centre on Pickersleigh Road and groups would volunteer to run it on a roster basis keeping 50 percent of the takings.

The launch of the new coffee shop is being planned to coincide with this year’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan which is being held at Prospect View on Friday, September 25 from 9am until 12pm. All the proceeds from this will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.

The idea for a coffee shop originated from requests from patients attending Prospect View for somewhere to go for refreshments following their appointments. A number of very successful coffee mornings raising money for charity have been held at the centre, including one which raised £200 for Macmillan at last year’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Doctors at the centre believe it will provide an exciting opportunity for a number of worthwhile groups in Malvern to raise much needed funds for their own organisation without any financial outlay or risk. The coffee shop would also provide a useful service to the hundreds of patients and their relatives attending appointments at Prospect View every week.

Any group wanting more information should contact Richard Vakis, the practise manager on 01684 584040 or richardvakis@nhs.net.
