£20m management Training Fund to Help SME's

The Government is urging small and medium-sized business managers to access funding for training through the Leadership and Management Development Grant scheme.
It is estimated that more than 13,000 SMEs and social enterprises with growth potential could benefit from the scheme, which is designed to help stimulate innovation and employment, thereby boosting the economy.
A match funded grant of up to £1,000 can be spent on leadership training and coaching that aids business growth, improving productivity and competitiveness. The programme also includes a free consultation with a business adviser before the training commences, as well as a free follow-up to discuss the impact of the training and any further skills needs.
Skills Minister, John Hayes said: "This Government will back businesses that want to boost their skills. We're spending more than ever on apprenticeships, freeing up training providers from red tape, and focusing public spending where it is most needed to drive growth. Effective leadership can make the difference between survival and growth, and this fund will give vital support to entrepreneurs who want to continue to develop their businesses."
Geoff Russell, Chief Executive, Skills Funding Agency added: "This fund will help many leaders of small and medium sized enterprises grow their business through harnessing the talents of their staff. Skills are critical to the future development of businesses. By offering a helping hand to thousands of organisations we expect to see more leaders develop the skills they need to help their businesses achieve their potential."
The scheme is being administered through the regional Leadership and Management Advisory Service. Contact details for the service are available through the Business Link website, where business managers will be able to book a personal leadership and management assessment.

What is the aim of the grants scheme?
Grants are available to local voluntary groups and charitable organisations that aim to:
• Support initiatives that improve services and facilities for the local community.
• Encourage local action to improve quality of life.
• Support activities in the local community that the Council would like to do, but does not have the resources for.
• Contribute towards the council's priorities, as set out in either the Community Strategy or Play Strategy, both of which can be found on the website at www.wychavon.gov.uk.
Every year the scheme focuses on one element of community life - this year's theme is PLAY but this does not exclude other aspects of community life such as community buildings, sports & arts - in fact any project that benefits the community.
