Social Enterprise Training Course

3 June 2009, 14:08PM - 14 July 2009, 17:30PM

Following the success of the first four workshops held on sustainability, Midwest Rural Enterprise will be running a series of follow-up sessions to help voluntary or community organisations, including social enterprises, to look at their marketing and promotional strategies.

If you are an organisation, or an organisation in development, and are concerned about promoting the advantages of using your services and trading activities and maximising take up and income generation in this difficult climate, and want to focus on how to do this better, this workshop is for you.

You can choose from the following venues:

• Monday 22nd June at The Training Station, Malvern
• Tuesday 23rd June at The Kindle Centre, Hereford
• Tuesday 14th July at The Gateway Education & Arts Centre, Shrewsbury

The workshops are organised by Midwest Rural Enterprise, a local Community Interest Company with funding from Business Link West Midlands. To cover course administration and refreshments, we ask for a contrubution of only £20 per person. For additional members of the same organisation, only £10 each.

The course will start at 9.30am and we will provide a light lunch to see you through until the afternoon. We hope to finish by 4pm and will follow up with some 'one to one' sessions for you to discuss your own ideas and ask questions specific to your own enterprise. Business advisers will be in attendance and if you would like to book into a session with one of them, please advise in advance. If it is not possible to book you into a post course session on the day, we will arrange for a follow-up meeting at a mutually convenient time.

The workshop will cover:

• motivation, social enterprise and social values
• establishing community need
• identifying products and services relevant to the vision of the organisation
• market viability and social enterprise
• understanding and developing competitive advantage in social enterprise
• ethical marketing
• social impact measurement methodologies
• presenting your competitive advantage or measuring your impact

Margaret Gray and Sue Fry will be the workshop leaders and provide business advice sessions.
