WAVOCC AGM - 10th July 2009

The WAVOCC AGM will be on Friday 10th July 9.45am - 12.30pm at the Bradbury Centre Worcester. Speakers have now been finalised and the theme for the event is Choice and Control.

To respond to external factors that are of current relevance to Community Care Organisations our two speakers this year are:
• Adam Russell, Choice and Control Team – ‘Developments in Choice and Control’
• Peter Arch, Head of Joint Commissioning – ‘The Role of the Joint Commissioning Unit’

Both speakers will be bringing us up to date with developments in their particular field of work with emphasis on their relationship with the voluntary sector. There will be plenty of opportunity for dialogue; in particular a Choice and Control specific question and answer session with members of Worcestershire County Council's Choice and Control Team. We will be pleased to receive Choice and Control questions for the panel prior to the AGM.

After lunch there will also be an opportunity to attend an informative workshop 'Next steps for Preventative Services', led by Kay Parry, Health & Wellbeing Manager, Joint Commissioning Unit.

The workshop will cover:

• Taking into account the current OP strategy and the Joint
Commissioning strategy, what do voluntary organisations see as the priorities for maintaining older people's health and wellbeing?

• If we were only able to spend money on one specific service/area,
what would it be and why?

• What things do we need to address in order to help some services
become self sustaining?

• How do we include BME and other hard to reach groups to ensure better equity?

• What are the options for rolling out models of good practice and
services to the rest of the county?

• How do we measure and evaluate services that have outcomes to reduce
impact on long term and acute services?
