WIC Representatives Listening Event - 10.09.08

There was a solid turn-out for WIC's VCS Representative's Listening Event (please see pictures)

One VCS Representative attendee's testimonial stated 'The programme was well conceived and designed for the time allocated,’ and that there were ‘excellent interaction sessions’ but that, ‘I believe we all need further training.’

One main issue raised by the event was ‘the confusion about whom people represent and why.’

The Format of the evening covered:

  • Richard Qualington (Community First:) Introduction and the role/use of representation
  •  Icebreaker – a discussion in twos.
    o Attendee introduction
    o Organisation they represent
o Boards and Committee they represent on
o What is the value of their representative role?
  • Richard Qualington:  Representation ‘STRENGTHS’ ‘DIFFICULTIES’ ‘OPPORTUNITYS’ ‘THREATS’ followed by a discussion.
  • Jim Smith (WIC) A attendee review of the four areas of the representative induction powerpoint including:

o The Principles of Representation
o What makes Effective Representation?
o Expectations of Representation
o So why report back?

These areas were then openly discussed under the themes:

• Usefulness of theme.
• Any additional points they would like to see included?
• Any additional comments?

The Representatives feedback form was also reviewed.

Richard Qualington: Close and request to fill in the Evaluation Form/and the Training Needs form
